sct guys !
Retunes timing, and fuel curves, and turns off torque management. (not sure that actually applies to the 96's though...) Torque management was dodges brilliant idea to compensate for a weak transmission......
just put in the autolites im so proud of myself :P ill be going for a drive wish i could have a camera for the NGK iriduims. the tops seem to have a ash film on them kinda redish ?
reddish is good! Like a rust color? Ash may be a bit of oil in the cylinder, but you have the proper heat range if it is burning off and is rust color.
It's hard to diagnose plugs on a EFI engine and O2 sensors. You have to do a WOT run and then immediately shut 'er down and pull the plugs to get a true reading.

I agree with the bad gas thought as well, and about using Chevron. That's all I run anymore.
Even if Chevron is $0.10 more a gallon for their premium than everybody else, it's only $2 more per 20 gallon fill up.
If you want, you can buy a bottle of octane booster and see if that stops the ping. If it still pings, you've got more than just a bad gas problem. look for an Octane booster that claims it changes the gas by NUMBERS (RON or Research Octane Numbers, specifically), not points. Points are literally 93.1, to 93.3. RON numbers are 93 to 95 octane.
Amsoil makes one of the better ones that's available commercially. If you can get your hands on some Toluene (methyl benzine), you can add up to 30% to the amount of fuel and raise it about 3.3 RON or 89octane to 92.3 octane. It's really nasty stuff, so be careful!
