Overhead Console blues....
When I bought the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 two wheel drive a few months ago, a previous owner had tried to upgrade from the original no-frills ohc to the computerized one. They apparently thought there were two plugs so it would simply plug in. I finally had time to pull the dash to fix the blown heater core, and made a harness for the ohc. I already had the high end body contoller. However, When I first turn the key, I am greeted with "OC" as a compass heading, and 248 degrees as a temp. When I push the Step button to cycle, I get around 300 as a DTE, which is about right because my tank is full, but he next displays show only "CCD". It even displays that when I get back to DTE, and shows no compass heading or temp after cycling through. Any ideas? P.S. I know it plugs in two places, and have wired accordingly. I would love to get it going before I get frustrated and put it back together as-is. Thanks!!
BUMP BUMP BUMP If it helps, for the two seconds it works, before saying "CCD", it says 248 degrees outside.... my other truck with a working display says -40 degrees with a disconnected temp sensor, so i guess that sensor lead is shorted out?

I put a compass/temp sensor from a 1998 in my 2001 over the weekend.
The temp gauge works great but the compass only shows east/southeat/south.
I only paid $15 for the wiring harness, overhead console and rear view mirror so I didn't get stung to badly.
I guess I will go find another overhead console or maybe just the display portion.

Anyone know where I can buy a computerized one. My truck is already built for it but I had a few subs that shot it to hell. It goes out on me then I have to hit it for it to start working properly then it will come back on. Plus the clips in there where broke near the rearview. I cant find em at any junkyard around where I live.
