All V-8s have the 46RE. Doesn't matter if it is half ton, or one ton. The 47, and 48's won't bolt up to them.

V-10's, and diesels got the 47, and later on, the 48.

some of the internal hardparts from the meaner trans, will indeed fit in the 46. Check with montec on that one though......

i have a few more qestion on the CST can it read codes and delete them? also any one have a pic of it? i did a quick google seach but i get irritated fast doing that because it never seems to come up with what i want lol also what els can it do for my tranny?

far as the tranny i cant find where i read that the 2500s had a 47re all i found this time was just what you guys have said and im darn sure your right. dang i wish she would just shift gears and i wouldnt have to have an auto trans lol

i know i should probly start a new thread for this but i think i got the right guys replying to this one so i mite as well ask. is there a way to hook up a switch to manually lock the torque converter when i want it locked? i know theres a way with the diesel trucks so im hoping there is a way for these. if so any right up on how to do it on these? im assuming it may have to be done diffrent since there is more computer stuff on these then the diesels of this gen and its a diffrent tranny.

to me, the main advantage of the superchip is you can adjust for tire size. i run 35's, and my speedometer is correct. i have had the jet chip, hypertech max energy, and now the superchip. the superchip is the best out of the 3 i have tried. i will be going with the sct after i get my cam finally installed. with custom tunes so it runs at its best. i know a couple guys that have had the superchip and went to the sct, and they say the sct is better performance wise. now if you are looking for mpg, the hypertech max energy was the best for that. gave me a couple more mpg's. this is with them set to the performance setting. you also need to run premium with all tuners in the performance setting. 91+octane.

my speedo is all ready off with the stock tires and i mite go a little biger but not much because it still pulls gooseneck trailers. i think once i do put the bigger tires on it should even it out and be right then. far as MPG i dont really care. its still no match for my cummins milage. there is no such thing as 91 octane around here so thats gona bite with the chip but i guess im stuck on that no matter what i do. thanks for your imput every bit helps.

Ok here's a few rattle off questions.

Does the SCT correct the speedo, for running larger tires?
Got a link to the Hypertech Speedo Calculator??
What does the SCT do for a completely bone stock 5.9?
Really kinda dumb but does the SCT have to be plugged in all the time? Where does it go? Go like where you would plug a scan tool in?

Other then SCT what is compatable (spelling?) with 96 Dodge Rams? Never really seen guys with 96-98 rams with chips or things of that nature. Mostly seems like guys with 99-01's have them.

Thanks.

Ok i got a couple answers
No SCT does not correct speedo for larger tires
Provides more power(ie changing timing), removes torque management(does not affect 96's we dont have it), Reads and clear DTC's(cell light), provides better fuel economy, thats the basics
No it does not stayed plugged in all the time, you plug in follow on screen instructions when finished you unplug, it plugs into OBDII port, on a 96 it is below kick panel above the gas pedal....reach hand down there and you will feel it
pretty much nothing else is compatible, B&G is the only one I know of and that requires shipping off computer to be flashed
