Default weird ignition/spark problem

94 ram 1500 4x4 with 59 and 5 speed. when i bought the truck, it had no oxygen sensors, and the wiring was cut off st the big bundle of wires that goes down the back driver side of the motor. i went to the junk yard and got the wires and plugs for the o2's and wired them into the harness. after doing this i ran the wires back down under the truck and hung them up out of the way so the exhaust shop could install the o2's. when i went to start the truck to pull out of the garage it just cranked and cranked but wouldnt fire. i have around 40 psi at the fuel rail, coil is brand new, but when i checked at the plugs it was almost like i could tell the rotor was spinning but only 1 out of every 4-5 hits on that plug would actually light the tester up. i could see a small spark happen everythime it should, but only a strong spark every 4-5 times. i dont know wwhat to do now, i am currently unemployed and dont want to spend money on this and that and not haveit fixed. i dont understand how it started to pull 5 feet into the garage, then an hour later nothing. please help! thanks in advance

Check to see where you are losing spark. Do you get the same symptoms from the coil? (pull the wire off the dist, and plug your checker in there.)

Unscrew the pre cat o2 and see if it starts.

i still dont have the o2's hooked up. i need to goto the exhaust shop and have them 1, get the broken stuck pre cat o2 out and 2, weld a bung in for the rear o2. and of course install them. the only thing i did was run the wires so they had something to plug them into

Huh? The 360 was not mated to a manual trans in the half tons.

Anyway, as for your problem, It's hard to say without more details or actually looking at the truck, but if it ran before you messed with the harness and not after, logic dictates that it's probably something you did..........

i completely understand ur "logic" theory, but throw it out. i can 100% guarantee its nothing i did with the wires. i traced them and added 2 plugs. they still arent hooked up to anything, and nothing has changed. they are essentially still at this point just hanging under there, but now they have the connector for the o2 sensor. it is a manual trans, i bought it this way, but it started life as an auto 318. the guy who did most of this work is clearly incompetant as far as swaps and such go, but its too late now and i didnt see the issues before i got home with it. anybody have any other ideas? thanks

Wonder if your computer is still the one for the 318......... Probably something you should look in to. Being a 94, you can't just reflash it...... Try finding a PCM out of a 3/4 or 1 ton truck, with the 5.9, and manual. 94 or 95 should work. 96 and newer is OBDII.

Was it running before this? If it was, you got to try removing that broken pre cat o2.
