Default Steel Wheels and Rust

Hi. I'm looking at picking up some wheels and tires today. the wheels are some standard steel wheels and the tires are 33" Firestone destination MT's with 2,000 miles on them. He's asking $750. I am planning on offer $500 but my question i show willthe wheels hold up to the saltwater they willbe facing when i use them to tow and lauch the boat.

I don't know your marine practice, But I flush everything with fresh water after saltwater use. So just rinse off the truck and wheels after and all will be good.

+1... The wheels are the least of the problems salt will cause.

What are some good sites to look for cheap tires and wheels on. I've already checked out tirerack and 4 wheel parts. Any others?

Your local tire place and junkyards. And Craigslist.

You are going to have to do some grinding on various things to get 15" wheels to clear everything. Tie Rods are definite, possibly brake calipers as well. For the money, I would pass.

Tires- TreadWright retreads. I just put a set on my '94 (285/75/R16 Guard Dog M/T's) and I have no complaints. They shipped fast, look great, balanced really well, are not too loud on the road and seem to be wearing well. Do a search on the site for reviews.

Wheels - hard to beat craigslist and junkyards (could be pricy), there are some cheaper new steel rims available like cragar soft 8's too.

Yeah, I think the 2000-2001 trucks, with the dual-piston calipers, at least the calipers need to be grinded down to fit 15" wheels.
