Default torque converter going out?

in the past few days my truck has started acting up, it seems like its having a hard time shifting gears there is some tranny fluid around the trans pan, but my fluid level seems to be fine it shows as full
it sometimes stutters at idle when in gear
when im going about 45 it puts around lowers and raises RPM
shifting between 1st and second gear seems to be giving it prolems.

any suggestions?

when you checked the fluid you did make sure it was in neutral while running right?

checking in park will NOT give you an accurate reading.

Not sure if it will work on a 97, but give this a shot and see if any codes come up. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...code-list.html

so to make myself sound like a total moron here, i checked and inspected everything. its all fine in the trans department, turns out alot of my cylinders were misfiring and to me it felt like like the torque converter was going out like it did on my ford, screwed around some more found no cause for these lovely misfires i suddenly had, checked at the gas station for fuel truck times because odly enough it all began happening right after i bought a tank of gas...so they refuled about 2 minutes before i showed up and i am just going to assume the gasoline i have is not the greatest in the world right now a few local mechanics seem to agree with me on it as well
