TCC wont unlock
I have a 99 Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9L and i just had my transmission totally rebuilt. whenever my torque converter locks whether its at 35mph or 70... it won't unlock for slight acceleration under slight throttle advance. i have to punch it to get it to kick down the 3rd before it will unlock. it was doing this before i had it rebuilt then it stopped afterwards until my TV cable came unhooked on the way home right after. reconnected and re-adjusted the tv cable and it still won't unlock under like it should when given just a little bit of throttle. any suggestions?????
I have had it into two different shops and another tranny shop and they say that all the specs are fine and permissives are being met but something is wrong....

Post #8 in this thread will show you how to adjust to factory spec. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-in-trans.html And make sure the spring is connected on the arm down at the end by the tranny.

yes they replaced the torque converter. I have readjusted the tv cable myself and have had the tranny shop do it. the spring is connected. It unlocked perfectly right after i had the tranny rebuilt up until the tv came off then it all went to Sh*t. and they say theres nothing wrong with it. Im thinkin that it is possibly something electronic.... having to do with one of the pressure sensors that work off the Throttle Valve in the valve body.

yeah in the morning i'm buying a new TPS. but with the scanner hooked up to it. the TPS is totally within range on specs
and HeyYou, does yours seem to lock up early like at 45-50 mph then when you give it Half throttle just bogs real badly and put a load on the engine until you hammer it to down shift?

Depends on the day........ Sometimes, just a bit of tip-in, and it will downshift, and away I go. Other days..... gotta press the pedal pretty hard to clue it in that I actually might want to accelerate.. Most of the time, it is reasonably cooperative. But, at 165K miles, I really don't expect "perfect".....
If you have a scanner, and can read the TPS value directly... watch that value as you SLOWLY press the pedal down. (don't have to have the engine running..... just ignition on.) If the value progresses smoothly, don't bother replacing it. It won't help.
Try adjusting your TV cable again. Having two people makes it MUCH easier. I use my teenager as the "hold this lever so it doesn't move" under the truck guy.
