id say its the oil leaking from the plenum to the exhaust, and its burning off....

Could be plenum gasket but more than likely its gonna be an oil leak. I would try and get the compression of the cylinders checked. might have a couple that are lower than others.

Rear main wouldn't cause the smoke. Does your truck smoke at start up? Does the smoke go away after you drive for a bit? have you checked the plenum?

I just did the plenum repair a week or two ago. Sometimes my truck smokes, and sometimes it doesn't. I suspect I still have an oil consumption problem as well..... The smoke I am seeing though, is accompanied by a fair bit of moisture blowing out the exhaust. (Not coolant though, I tasted it it to be sure....)

well hea said he has the exhaust chopped, so if some of the oil is hitting the exhaust, , then it will smoke around the same area where its chopped.
