Default 318 performance

Ive got a 97 ram 1500 5.2L 2wd. Ive heard swapping out the 318 heads for the 360 heads is an easy way to gain more power, however ive also heard that it can lower the compression to a point to where it is pointless to do to gain power. which is true, and what else can i do to push more power out of my 318?

hey bud,
the best thing is you can do what you said but bore the cylinder out i put a mild cam big crank and i have 80 over piston and heads but then again if you can't reality get 113 octane i wouldn't bore it over 50 the truck below is the one i did this to it is the same 318 2wd like yours

What machine shop was silly enough to overbore your engine 80 thousandths? None of them around here will go over 60. Start getting awfully thin on the cylinder walls there......

As for more power....... how fast do you wanna spend? For the price of a set of heads, you could get 1.7 roller rockers, and an SCT Tuner...... plus some gas.....

The 5.9 heads also have smaller valves, so with the lower compression, you'll have an all-around dumper of an engine.

Well then, join a forum, ask a question, be rude, and leave. Ok......

If your gonna respond like that, you might be better off taking your question to another forum. If you wanna start over and show respect to those who wanna help you, then feel free to start over.
