So the truck was running fine and I stopped to get gas at the gas station, got out and put gas in and then when I got back in to start the truck, the dash and all the beeps went as normal but when you turned it to start, nothing happened. 1 tiny faint click and nothing. After about 3 tries, I gave checked the battery and it was fine, not loose and fully charged. I got back in to try it again and this time there's no dash lights or beeps (however the entire time, the key in buzzer while the door is open works, and still does) also, the power outlet is getting power because my Radar Detector still turns on/off when I want it to. I tried again a little bit later and this time when I put the key in, the computer or whatever near the diagnostics hookup made a continuous clicking noise unless the ignition was put into the Accessory or On position and the Power Outlet also stopped working. A few minutes later it stopped clicking and the Power Outlet was working again. The keyless entry also isn't working, neither is the panic.

All the fuses are good and all the fuses in the distribution and inside are getting power, any ideas?

 

Clean the battery terminals first. Trying to start the engine requires a hell of a lot more current flow than a buzzer. Might also want to follow your cables around, and clean all connections, and grounds.

 

Well, the thing is is that the battery was reading about 12.6 and we were getting the same exact reading on the wire leading to the fuse box and on the box itself.

 

Voltage does not equal current. You can have 12 volts, but, if you are only getting 2 or 3 amps thru a dirty connection, low-draw items (key buzzers.... dome lights... etc.) will work just fine, but, the starter, wanting 200 amps, will not.

However, nothing interior or exterior is working however except for the Power Outlet and the door buzzer, I didn't pay attention if either worked this last time I checked though. (When you turn the key to On the Cigar Lighter and everything else that requires on gets power from the fuse box however it's only like .3 volts? But I can't tell if it's actually working because it hasn't worked for months)

I don't think either of those is switched via the ignition... So, its possible you have a bad ignition switch too.... Dome lights and such should work too... supposedly. Time to take an inventory of what works, and what doesn't.... Pay attention when you get there, see if the radio will work with the ignition on, and if the gauges test as well. See if any of that works while key on, engine off.

 

The Cigar Lighter requires On and it only got power when the key was turned to On, but the Power Outlet is constant power.

The only thing I can note working is the Power Outlet and the Buzzer. Everything else doesn't, Radio, Locks, Horn, Keyless Entry/Panic, Lights, Signals, Dome Lights, Dash, Dash Audible Alerts. The only thing I can think of that I haven't checked is the wipers, but if nothing is getting power, I don't see how they'll work anyway.

Still haven't headed up to clean the terminals and check it but I honestly don't see that being the problem.

 

A note I might want to add:
We bought this truck recently (about 5 months ago after wrecking the same exact one). And something I found odd since we've had it is that if I turn the running lights or low/high beams on, I can listen to the radio (no key or anything). I can also turn the wipers on and use the wiper pump but when I use that with the wipers on High, the lights on the radio start to dim. The truck was a water damage salvage I believe and it looks like the entire dash has been taken apart and (quickly) put back together.

Do you think it could have been a wiring mess-up that ended up shorting something important out? The computer perhaps = the clicking noise I heard?

Edit: Also, my Mom's boyfriend keeps feeling that it has something to do with the security feature messed up or something and is killing all the power to the truck. As far as I know, the truck has no 'alarm' par-say, only keyless entry with panic mode, no literal alarm; but obviously there's the ignition/radio lock-out I think all these models have.

I'm throwing a ton of things out there but just trying to mention as much as possible so hopefully someone can give possibilities.
