Actually, a BL makes it less top heavy then a suspension only lift. With a suspension only lift, you put the body AND the frame up higher (and everything attached to the frame like the engine and drivetrain). With a BL, just the body goes up, the frame stays lower, so all that weight of the frame, engine, etc... stays lower too. This actually allows for a better center of gravity then when you have both the frame and the body up in the air like with a suspension only lift.

As far as gaps go, you may have them, but on 2nd gen rams you can not see them thanks to the wheel well liners that Chrysler put in the trucks. Notice that on Fords and Chevy's with BL's, you can see those gaps because the wheel wells are wide open.

Why do it at all if you don't need to clear larger tires..? And raising weight is raising weight, you cant make anything better by doing that. That's just silly to even think about. And these trucks have epic body gap, its realllly bad under the tailgate.

There's no such thing as a good body lift. And those brackets are a joke. They take your somewhat functional bumper and turn it into a show piece. Not to mention it sits higher then it really should for a street use vehicle, thus halving its effectiveness in a collision.

That's why most 'good' body lifts come with bumper relocation brackets.

I do agree that there is not a lot of good reasons to do a BL if you are not going to run larger tires. The only other gain from doing a BL that I can think of is better room in the engine compartment to work on the top of the engine.

My truck has a 3" BL on it, and there is no noticable gap like you see on other manufacturers. Far far cry from "epic" thats for sure.

Any gap is epic gap. Any gap is too much gap. You're weakening the overall integrity of the body by lifting it up off the frame on stilts.
