Default truck shakes when it shifts into OD(4th) and more NEWBIE questions

I used to have a 2005 brand new dodge ram 2500 cummins and now I just picked up an 01 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 5.9l and have a few questions:

1. I thought the trucks shakes when it reaches 45mph until I realized then it shifts into OD(which is about 45mph) it shakes, as soon as I give it more gas to say 60mph its fine but when I let off and let the truck shift into OD, it will shake, whats this mean? It shakes only when I give it gas in OD, thats what im noticing, if im coasting in OD, I believe it doesnt shake.

2. What spark plugs should I use?
3. What oil and oil weight should I use?
4. Is 87 fuel good or do I need to use 93 premium?
5. Since the 98 refresh, are the hoods, fenders, headlights, tailgate still the same? I Have an 01 SPORT but need a hood, fender and headlights will it work from any 94-01 ram?
6. If I need a new trans, from what year will it work from and will a trans work from a ram with a 5.2l?
7. Is the rear window the same on all 94-01 that have the sliding feature?

1. Sounds like you have an engine miss. Mine felt the exact same way when I had a couple cylinders misfiring. Have a look at your spark plugs, see what they have to say. Also check the rest of the tune up parts. If you have some rear plugs that are fouled, better take a close look at the plenum gasket..... a known point of failure on these engines.

2. There is a thread in the FAQ section on spark plugs, and who uses what. Have a look. I am using just regular old copper plugs, and they work just fine.

3. Use the manufacturer recommended weight. I don't advocate any particular brand.... if you change your oil every 3000 miles, they are all pretty much the same. (my opinion)

4. The engine is designed to run on 87 octane gas. Running premium might make it a bit smoother, but, you are actually wasting money that way. (the difference is negligible.)

5. You have a sport model, so, you need to get your parts from another sport model. I think...... anything 98 and newer will work for ya.

6. Supposedly...... anything 96 and up will bolt right in. There ARE some differences in wiring though. Can that be altered to work with your year truck? Don't know for certain. If you need a trans, best bet is to get one from the same year truck..... All v-8s used the 46RE from 96 on. (which is what you have.)

7. Not sure.

The hood, fenders , tailgate and rear slider should all be the same. Headlights are same shape , only difference is one uses 1 bulb and the other 2 bulbs. I would also suggest only using the tranny out of a 2000 or 2001. The harness's vary on other years.

Not always, but give this a shot, and see what you come up with. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...code-list.html

when my O/D worked it would shift at 50 mph and be at 1100 rpm abouts, if i hit the gas it would be like "put, put put, putputput" until about 1700 rpms, almost likeit was mising, but it was because it was to low of an rpm...never got a CEL, but it was rough, and thats why i dont hit O/D until im at least at 65mphs.....at 50 in OD, its pretty sluggish

hopefully this helps some.

ill check all the stuff, thanks guys for the fast response, btw, what did you say about the headlights, which years had 2 bulbs and which had 1? How many does my 2001 have? Also, if I get a hood from a 96, can I just swap out my body colored grille on take off the chrome grille? What year did the SPORT come out?
