Default Tailgate Panel Trim - Remove or Not?

.
Just wanted to gather opinions on whether or not I should remove the trim panel from my tailgate. I don't care for it, but not sure exactly what it would look like without it. Since the attached pic, we have removed the tail light covers and the dealer logo.

Previous owner must have removed the 'Dodge' and '4x4', so if we pull off the panel, we'd have a smooth just white gate. Which would look cool, I think, but not sure with it between the two black framed tail lights.

(Anyone know if an easy way to remove bumper dents, or how to straighten one?)

Pull it. Looks funny. I think if its undamaged under the plastic it might look better. I love white. Last 2 cars were white.
I wish I had a window in back that slides. That might be something to do if the future when I get a sun roof.

Good luck..

Paint might be brighter underneath, but with white, that is not usually as visible. But I also read on another forum where a guy pulled his off and it was primer underneath. I'll try to find that post.

Yeah, I want to paint the light surrounds, but the wife thinks paint would flake off. The panel is popping off anyway in about three corners, so I think we'll pull it, and then if we decide we would rather have it on, it would have new 3M tape.

We'll have to wait until we get new tailgate cables on... had to order both. Left is missing, and right is loose.

What might be cool too is to pull it off and have it painted to match your truck then reinstall.

Okay, I pulled it off last night, and think it makes the back look alot smoother and clean. It also helps make the bent bumper not as noticable.

I was right. It does look better. Now what would look really good is some nice pinstriping or design on the tailgate. Nothing gaudy but refined. Just my opinion.
