My '94 done the same thing. I only use the truck for 4 wheeling so I just disconnected the lever under the dash and switch it by hand.

Now that you all mention it, I did notice that under pressure the vent would stop bowing. My truck caught wildvents, dirty truck. hahaha.

So, where should I start my traceing at? is there a typical area that usually gets affected? Is there a map of just the vacume tubes and how they run in any manual?

actualy in most cars under heavey acceleration while A/C is on the computer will turn off A/C to give more power to the wheeles because even tho A/C doesnt use muc power it still uses power needed under heavey acceleation

Start following the vacuum line off passenger side of intake, they branch off a couple time and that's where the checks valves live. You more than likely have a cracked line before they disappear into firewall, which will default the vent to defrost only. But yeh, search wild vents. If after fixing the break and you still get get switching to defrost when accelerating, then you need to replace the check valves also. 8.00 from dealer.

The PCM will turn off the COMPRESSOR, not the blower fan.

I would also point out this thread is more than two years old.......

I just recently noticed my vents having issues and I am just starting to learn about this stuff. I had no clue what was going on but after reading this old thread it has help clear somethings up.

I do have a question though. My controller is stuck in defrost and I did find that I have a broken vacuum line. It is just off of the check valve and is the line that runs through the fire wall. How difficult is it to replace this vacuum line?

Just splice the line with a piece of rubber vacuum line. The plastic lines LOVE to get brittle, and break...
