The vent selector on my truck is stuck on defrost. I flip the **** to the different settings and all the heat that comes out is only from the defrost vents.

How do I fix? My feet are freezing and my face is on fire.

If it is not a problem with the vent blend mechanism itself, then it is probably a vacuum leak you need to find.

Couldn't it also be a sign of the wildvents?

Wild vents is vents switching back to defrost on acceleration. (or, climbing a hill, or any other high engine load event.)

Look under the hood, passenger side, back by the firewall. Vents are controlled with vacuum, and it appears you don't have any. I would be a broken line somewhere between the manifold, and the firewall.

Actually, the leak could be in just about any part of the vacuum system. When mine had the "wild vents", it was a leak in the vac line by the CAD on the front axle.

I think he has more than just a 'leak' though. I think something is either broken off, or disconnected. Start at the 'easy' part, and see what comes up.

whenever i have the AC on in my 1997 1500 and i give it more a little throttle or im going up a hill the AC will stop blowing out the vents. is this the "wild vents" y'all are talking about? so its caused by a vaccum leak?

That is indeed wild vents, and is usually caused by a failed check valve up by the intake manifold. I think there is a DIY fix thread in the FAQ section for it.
