Still gotta put the front gear set in and do the ball joints on the driver side front. I did the bj's and brakes on the passenger side, just been too busy to do the other side. Track bar is in. Steering is still a little loose, but I know there is still a bad ball joint, so we'll see how it feels after that.

Other then that, truck has been real good to us. We're just getting ready to head out to pick up our heaviest load yet. 2 convertible 3000gt twin turbos. That's 8500 lbs of cars. I still haven't gotten an unladen weight on my 2 car trailer. I just call it 3000 lbs for estimated sake .

New load. 2 95 3000gt Spyders. Engine bay of the red one is in the bed of the truck along with 2 sets of wheels. This is definitely the heaviest load yet. Cruising home at 55mph. Good thing it should only take 5 hours.

Pulled another load down south. One car to TN and one to AL. Each location I dropped one off and picked another one up.

Here's a pic of the initial load going down.

3 hours into the trip we develop a miss in the engine. Called a few mechanics in the area and no one would look at it. So, ended up in a NAPA and decided to do the spark plugs. Found a bad spark plug wire, so I had to use a new wire from a set for a Ford Aerostar van.

Made it just north of the TN border that night. The next morning, as we cross into TN, the trailer brakes lock up. We look down at the brake controller and it's pegged, then it reads zero, then it's pegged, then it shuts off. We pull into the TN welcome center and find out we have no tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, or trailer brakes. 4 or 5 blown fuses. I replace the fuses and Emilie sees smoke out the driver side rear wheel well. This is what we found.

4 hours it took me to trace the short and fix it. I had to pull the body harness out from the rear of the truck to the cab. It melted right by the fuel filler neck. Almost lit the truck up in flames!!! The body harness is now 6 inches shorter

Got the white car dropped off in TN and picked up a red one.

Dropped off the black one and picked up another red one.

A little over 2000 miles on this trip and it took 5 days thanks to the Ram . It would have been an easy 4 day trip if it weren't for me wasting 5-6 hours of day light fixing the damn truck!!!

Next on the list of things to replace.... rear leaf springs. This thing really needs a stiffer set to tow this much weight.

Do air bags with an onboard compressor instead of just putting in stiffer springs...... your unloaded ride won't suffer, and loaded, you can air up the bags, and be OK.

I thought about air bags. Right now I have the Timbren setup on the rear. With the 2 car trailer empty, it just barely doesn't hit the stops which makes the ride really harsh. I'm still weighing my options, but I'd hate to get rid of the Timbrens and I really would hate it if an airbag blew out. There is enough things going wrong with the truck as it is lol.

We really use the truck mostly for hauling. I think we have put on a bit over 15,000 miles in the last 6 months and 96% of that was hauling something, so stiffer rear leafs wouldn't make the ride intolerable. Plus, I looked into on board air and it can get up there in price.

I think it may have started with the trailer brake wire. After fixing the harness, the trailer brakes seem to perform better.

he failed to post the most awesome picture.

And that while prying the gas tank away from the frame rail in order to pull the harness out, he smashed his face with the hammer.

roadside rewire!!
