Some guys use a pickle fork & BFH & pound the **** out of it.
Me, I used an impact gun & balljoint universal installer/press kit.
Left the nut on, just loose & pressed it, if you pull the nut it will drop off so have support under it.
Took off sway bar, spindles & c arms to replace bushings (poly), balljoints (moog) & tie rods (moog also).
While at it also blasted then powder coated the drop springs, spindles & sway bar(drive shaft also) before reassembling.
Took most of the summer to finish.

i got a pickle fork. no luck its 31 degrees and only getting colder. I got the truck and it had spacers in the coils so i figured it would be an easy install everything else was fairly easy except for the shock bolt. but i put the for in and jump on it use a cheater pipe, beat it with a hammer no luck. i am trying to undo the upper is the lower and easier?

Use two hammers. I personally prefer a pair of three pound single jacks. (BFH.....) Hold one against one side of the spindle where the ball stud passes thru, SMACK the other side with the other hammer. Two or three good blows, and it will pop out. Guaranteed.

a ball joint puller if you dont have one see if a local parts store has a loaner, if not there not to expensive, put it on and get at it with an impact and get ready because when it pops if your not ready it will scare the sh^t out of you

Pickle fork + BFH is what I used on my dads truck.
That isn't the best combo if you're not replacing the ball joint though, it will eat up the boot on it.

Before you kill yourself with a flying coil spring, do you have a Haynes manual? If so read it, if not go get one.
