Where do I find the intake kit? Or is there one? I found one with just the gasket or is that all I need?

that loss of power you described at 50, is the torque converter locking up, the rpms should drop a little. to stop that just turn off your o/d untill you hit highway speed and turn it on.

Check the two links we already supplied. That has the plenum plate, plate bolts and gasket, and intake gasket set. According to the description there, the factory says the you CAN re-use the intake bolts, which is contrary to everything I have ever heard, although, even the factory repair manual doesn't specify new bolts.... how odd. I would replace them just on general principles.

If you have $600 laying around you could replace the intake manifold with a Hughes FI Airgap and then you won't have a plenum gasket to worry about ever leaking again.

Be careful with the front two and the rear two bolts on the intake when you take it off, they go out into open air and will probably be pretty rusty since you live in Canada. So use plenty of penetrating fluid.

A plugged catalytic converter (common problem on 2nd gens) will give you misfire codes, especially on cylinder #8. And if you're burning that much oil then you can about guarantee that the cat is toast.
You can get a 3" in/out universal Magnaflow cat from summitracing.com and put a 3"-2.5" reducer on the rear then weld it on, they're about $70. Your cat is 3" in and 2.5" out and it only has the one pipe in/out.

Ok its all ordered, Thanks guys for your help. Thats a funny thing about the torque converter locking up there was actually a whole show on powerblock about dodge ram 1500 and why the truck does that, Kinda helped answer my questions.

Also I was thinking about cutting out my cat and getting a deltaforce 40 muffler or just straight piping it off the exhaust manifolds, what do you guys think about that? I want it loud, liek screaming loud, i know its probably illegal but I love my truck loud, I know that my engine light will always be on, but I can always keep checking it to ensure its not on for any other reasons, considering I work in a shop thats always easy enough for me to do.

So you think my only issue is the plenum gasket and possibly intake? Its wouldnt be burning oil because of my valve seals or piston rings or anything? Also the throttle body was so black, liek caked ... I dont think Ive seen one look that bad for quite sometime.

My boss told me I could use the throttle cleaner which is from BG somesort of product my boss is using now, and we used it on my dakota and my truck had way better throttle response so I might do that to this truck to and also do a fuel injector cleaner, But if you guys think for sure it is the plenum or the intake, I dont know if I should bother doing the fuel injector cleaner It is also catalytic converter and o2 sensor safe. I hope doing all this will fix my problem and its nothing deeper than that.

Black/caked throttle body, misfire codes and burning oil all point to a blown plenum gasket. A blown plenum also causes a big decrease in power and gas mileage along with spark knock (marbles rattling in a coffee can type sound).

You can get around the CEL if you use a sparkplug non-fouler (or two stacked) and screw those into your downstream o2 sensor bung then screw the o2 sensor into them. I believe there is a link in the FAQ section about it.

I think Laramie1997 had a flowmaster 40 series on his truck with no cat and it sounded pretty good.
