Upgraded from my Dakota for a 2nd gen Ram
Awesome, Thanks for the help, Ill keep you guys updated on how the intake manifold and plenum turn out! Hoping it will fix my problems, especially with the oil consumption.
yep, it's gonna be the plenum gasket, ALL of your symptoms point straight to it.
As far as the non-foulers go, I wish I had a buck for everytime my DIY is linked, I'd have me a new truck by now, LOL...

So you think it is the plenum then? That can cause a misfire? Or should I change the intake gasket also while Im in there? The misfires only happen sporatically, usually at idle or very low speeds. Isnt there anything else you recommend? Like hotter plugs?
A bad plenum causes misfires (oil on the plugs) and a plugged cat (from the oil that got through the plenum gasket into the cylinders) will cause misfires too (burnt exhaust gasses staying in the cylinder because the pressure in the y-pipe keeps them from flowing on out).
When you change the plenum gasket you will have to change the intake gaskets because they need to come off to get at the plenum.
You shouldn't go to hotter plugs. If anything you should go a heat range colder. But you shouldn't need colder plugs with a good plenum gasket.

In order to do the plenum, you have to pull the intake. The plenum plate is on the bottom of the intake manifold, and there is no other way to get to it. Intake MUST come off.

I dont really understand the point of hotter and colder plugs. If you could explain to me why you would recommend colder plugs although I think Im just going to get champion plugs because those always seem to be the best in dodge, well from my experiences.
