Default 3/4t under 1/2

I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 5.9 and I have an oportunity to pick up a 98 dodge ram 3/4t gas for a $1000. Wud this be a good buy to put suspension under my 1500. I cud even keep motor and scrap the rest. What do you guys think? Good deal or not?

Yeah good deal. You can part the truck out for more than $1000 (depending on condition).

I would buy it.... but, I have a 3/4 ton truck...... where ya at? I might be interested in some parts.

If you want to swap suspension, you will need the rear spring hangars, springs, axles, probably e-brake cables, transfer case, and driveshafts. Hang on to ANYTHING driveline related until you have the conversion complete. (aside from parts you obviously don't need.

Damn. WAY too far away.

Which of your trucks is in better condition? Which has the body style you like better? Might want to just drive the 3/4 ton, and use the half ton for parts......

I like the 1/2t I'm not a fan of longboxes. Plus my 1/2 is in a lot better shape. 3/4t was farm truck so its got a lot of wear. Will puttin the 3/4t suspension under my 1/2 give me any lift?

Yep. 3/4s sit about two inches higher than the half tons.

Sweet hope guy still has it. I figured I'd spend almost 1000 just for axles without hardware

So I got a call from guy about the 3/4t I can pick it up for 850 body is rough but it runs n drives. The motor is wore out will need rebuilt has an auto tranny. Might pull motor n tranny n sell those n put suspension under my 1/2t and sell some other parts. Might put frame and make a 2 wheel pickup box trailer.

I'm swapping the front springs on my 2500 with some from a 1500 this weekend. I'm trying to get a an inch or two drop so my daughter can get in easier. But what I'm doing is alot easier than your project. But the 1500 springs are about 2 maybe even 3 inches shorter than the 2500's hard to tell for sure with them still on the truck. Don't forget the spacer block or whatever it's called under the rear leaf springs it's a good 3 inches or more taller than the 1500. Good luck with your project and don't forget the pics.
