Default tranny problems

I have a 99 ram 5.9 recently the tranny slips. The only time it happens is when I go down to stop sign about a half mile from the house.I stop and give it gas to pull out and its like its not in gear, say nuetral, then it slips back in and drives normal.it only happens when I stop not in any other gear.Recently changed filter and fluid still acts up from time to time.Any clue?

Possibly need the bands adjusted. Or:

Governor pressure sensor, and solenoid.... Or:

Still a bit low on fluid? Gotta check it in neutral.

Welcome to DF.

Grab the 01 service manual from the FAQ section here. Procedure is in there. Think ya gotta drop the pan though....... You also have to drop the pan to do the sensor and solenoid thing...... though, they aren't precisely cheap.... might wanna go full boat, do filter, fluid, band adjust, sensor and solenoid replacement. Such fun.

Bands have no effect in breakaway low (first gear in drive).

Check fluid level
adjust TV cable
sensors
Do in this order

The TV (throttle valve) cable is what controls line pressure based on the amount of throttle on the engine. It runs from a lever on the side of the trans to the throttle body. There should be information in the FAQ's on how to adjust it.

If you've got a check valve, rip it out and replace it with a flexible line.
