help with intake needed fast
Its not that urgent but I have a 95 dodge ram 5.2L with all the mods listed in my signature. I have the k&n FIPK stage 2 however the filter seems a tad small for such a massive intake tube. I also have the polished and ported fastman 50mm TB. I was talking with another member on here and said these kits are semi restrictive and limits power from an intake even though breathing much better than stock or other filters. Still is more you can get out of it in other words. What im asking is I found a filter twice as large as the one the kit came with for 60 dollars at the local autopart store and it is a K&N. Is it worth it and would I find reasonable power gains with more air coming in? Its a gift idea for my gf but want to make sure its worth it before she bought it. Thanks for your time. And it does work well with the filter I have now but if more air is good then heck yeah but ifits too much for the engine to use then nevermind.

kinda hope you werent acting like this was a pathetis post. It's a Yes or no question. Im going to be putting a hughes stage 2 OEM intake manifold on this motor this summer bacause I dont think anyones done any plenum fixing work on here and I think ramindy was telling me the ram airbox is better than k&n's but i have half the roads here are dirt so he reccommended staying with the k&n. Just saying bro. I know a decent amount about motors but if its even worth more surface area in the intake filter without a perf motor build. just bolt ons.

465.00 bucks for a STOCK manifold???? Oh, I really don't think so. Of course, what you are paying for mostly, is the machine work......
If you aren't in a hurry to get this job done, go to the junkyard, get an intake of the right year, and modify it yourself. It isn't that bad of a job, just tedious.
or, spend a bit more money for the airgap manifold.....

grab a little magnet, tie it to a string. Take off your throttle body, lower the magnet into the intake, if it sticks to the belly pan, that is stock, and you will more than likely end up having to deal with it if you keep the truck any appreciable length of time, regardless if it has been 'fixed' before. If the magnet DOESN'T stick, there is an aluminum plate there, and someone else has already fixed it right, and you shouldn't have to worry about it.
