Default programmer tuner chip anything?

is there any hand held tuner/power programmer for the 96 ram 1500s? cant seem to find much for my truck

i thought the 94-96 rams had to buy a different computer.

PCM. same thing as ECU. (actually, the ECU for ours is contained within the PCM.) That was just a terminology change when the computers weren't just for making the engine run any more. They started doing other duties, like transmission shifting, cruise control, abs brakes, (RWAL) etc.

94-95 are obd 1, and are not flash programmable. 96 and up, are OBDII, and are. There are some quirks with the 96-97? model years though, so, programming them is a bit 'different' than the 98 and up. Still, it can be done. Hemifever has tuners that work on 96 and newer trucks.

Yes SCT works on 96 and up....search hemifever on the forum and then pm him or go here
