transfer case whine

Does it come from the t-case, or the cv joint right at the t-case?

i honestly havent tried to distinguish b/w the two, however; wuld the chain move if i spun the front drive shaft by hand while the truck was off in 2wd?

Remove the front shaft, put it in 4wd and see if you have the same symptoms.

ok will do, whats it like replacing that double cardan joint?

Tedious, but, not that difficult. If you have replaced a u-joint in the past, you have a good idea of what its all about.

o yea, i can do a u-joint; but how bout the cardan joint itself?

it is the chain making the noise. if the chain doesnt move in 2wd, nothing is really compromised by continuing to drive it like that, right?

i found a video on youtube here . this is the exact same noise if your interested

can the chain be replaced with the case still in the truck, what all is involved?
