Cam into a 97 360
Ok so ive been looking at cams, and torque converters. It looks like its gonna be pretty simple to put a cam into the truck this summer. One thing that worries me is the MPI with the cam.
I built a 350 last year, and being a carburetor guy i kept the motor that way because i was worried about timing the fuel system to the new camshaft.
Was i worried for nothing?
Hopefully when the cam is ready to go in the motor will already have a Fastman 52mm, Long tube headers, MSD and the fixed Plenum(waiting for that now, its on the way).
I priced out a TQ on summit and it looks like its gonna be around 300.00, and the cam looks like its going to be around the same.
What sort of problems do you see me running into? And will a SCT Tuner cure the problem of the Fuel System/Cam timing?

A SCT cannot "cure" if you yanked the distributor and then put it back in jacked up. You need to go to the dealership to get your truck's fuel synch redone.
HOWEVER, you WILL need a SCT with custom tuning (And a wideband O2 gauge) in order to see maximum gains. Without the SCT and custom tuning, you can possibly lose HP by swapping the bumpstick.
THat is why many guys here do the 1.7 rrs.
Bottom line, if you are doing a camshaft, you need to get a SCT.

Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, in a 1.7:1 ratio. (a bit meaner than stock) Installing them gives you more lift, without changing duration. (well, changes duration at .050 lift, but, hey.....) Not to mention the reduced power loss due to the friction of the stockers...... Very computer friendly. It's like installing a meaner cam, without the hassles that go with a meaner cam..... so, about 300 bucks for the rockers, 25 bucks or so for valve cover gaskets, an hour or so with a torque wrench, and you are done.
Yes. They do.
You can find them at all the usual suspects. Summit Racing. Jegs. Rock Auto. Just about any performance parts website you care to name.

you can also buy them direct from Southeast. might be cheaper. I think you have to call them.
