318 to a 360 computer swap
i wanna build my 95 ram with a stock 318 in it but i dont wanna waste a buncha money on it ide rather try and swap parts off a 360 i know that on the fords you can swap a cpu outta a 351 to a 302 is it possible to do the same with the dodges put a computer from a 360 in a 318 to give it a nice power boost? what other things can i do without blowin over 500 bucks?
I ran my 5.2 on a 5.9 MOPAR PCM for a long time and it didn't run rich, wideband verified.
was there a noticable power difference? and did it effect gas mileage to much?
Hahns, was that at WOT? or just cruising? I've been told by several guys that know far more that I about this stuff that the 360 PCM will be a bit rich on a 318 motor.

i see little to no point in switching a stock 360 pcm to a 318, IMO you wont see any noticeable gains
SCT, 1.7's, headers/exhaust, tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, t-chain,). save yourself the headache and dont try and "rig" it up like you seem to want to do. do it right

The part numbers may be the same, it is the programming that is different.
In closed loop, the O2 sensor plays more of a role in controlling fuel, than programming..... It is in OPEN loop that it will run rich. Now, the newer trucks (OBDII) go into closed loop MUCH faster than their OBDI counterparts, but, anything past about 60% throttle, or thereabouts, and the computer goes into open loop, regardless of other considerations. Under normal driving conditions, you will see zero performance difference between the two. Under hard acceleration, you will be running rich.

There is no reason to run a 5.2 with a 5.9 PCM unless it's a MOPAR PCM, swapping stock computers will not give you any more power.
