Looks good from the surface. lol

I'm worried I may break the plastic when trying to yank it out. Am sitting here debating on whether to wake roommate up and ask if ok before attempting.

For what it's worth, when I first started out, I yanked on my plastic IAC connector without knowing I shouldn't do that. Now I'm careful to yank on plastic without understanding consequences... especially on someone else's truck.

But, I pulled the damn thing out and tested it. It is a good fuse too.

Now what?

I say fix the tail lite housing so no water gets in it, then inspect the headlight switch and harness.

I did my own check on the ram just now. He has neither tail lights nor instrument panel lights, but the headlights still work. I read to access the headlight switch I am to:

Gently pry off the plastic bezel around the instrument panel that covers the entire driver side of the dash (this piece may crack if pulled to hard). Removing the bezel will expose the screw holding the headlight switch in place.

Is this what I am supposed to do?

We have successfully removed the piece of dash trim, unscrewed the switch housing, and visually inspected plugs/wiring. No signs of melting, corrosion, or anything weird. Did not actually unplug it, as it seems a little tricky.

By the way... new info.... Roommate says last night when he unlocked truck, everything, including dash lights, came on. But when he turned on his headlight switch, the dash and tail lights went out. Lights that currently work: headlights, hi beams, interior lights, the passenger side brake light, and fog lights (although one bulb is burnt out there).

ok, now what?

I've been studying hard... and I think the manual's directions are starting to make sense. I guess I do have to remove the switch, so I can test for continuity on the switch terminals when switch in "on" position, as well as continuity between the cavities on the connectors themselves.

So, I marched back outside to attempt to unplug connector. I have very little play and cannot seem to get my hand around the larger connector. It feels like the connector is attached to the inside side wall with not much give? I'm back to being leery of breaking plastic if I yank on it the wrong way.

Any tips for unplugging connector.. or for getting the switch further out to see what I'm doing??
