Default 1999 Dodge 2500

Hello everybody. Less than 1000 miles ago and new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, my truck is running horribly. I went to Autozone to get a free diagnostic and I am still having a mis fire on cylinder number 8. I bought a new spark plug and changed it. The old one, that I just replaced 3 weeks ago, is soaked and caked with so much oil, there is no open space. I ran my truck for about 10 minutes and about 4-5 miles and it isn't running any better.
Is my engine shot?????

you need to go to the search option at the top of the page and do a search on plenum gasket, clogged cat, and o2 sensors.

this is a very common problem with the magnum line of engines. and no your engine is not shot, it just needs some tlc and $$$

Default misfire?

i have 99 with a 360 and have a misfire on the number five cylinder. i changed the plugs, wires, injectors, cap, and rotor. i still have the miss it comes and goes. i was told by a shop that it is my heads. the 98 and early 99 5.2s and 5.9s have weak valve seats. let me know what you figure out with your truck.

I hope to find out whats happening by this time next week. I will let you know once that happens. I have talked to some people about my truck and I need to get a compression test on that cylinder. With all the ideas that everybody here has given me, I am sure to get this fixed soon!

As 99dodge318 said, do a search here for plenum. That is the problem.

Rent a Compression Gauge from Autozone. It's a simple process that takes one guy and a sheet of paper and a pen. What does your spark plug look like from the missing cylinder?
