i have a ram 1500 on total of 9 inches of lift and ofcourse i have a tranny problem its start with throwing a proformance code about 70,0000 miles for the torque converter clutch well christmas eve i was going down the road it kick out of over drive and i notice on m a piller gage it was reading about 215 on the tranny temp soo i park it and let it cool down well i tried to drive it again and i had a whinning sound like when a power steering box is dry so i replace the tranny filter and fuild to the right specs went down the road and it was finee i left again and it would not go into second or overdrive but like twice so i limped it back home and half way there i lost all forward motion and all i have now is reverse so i had to reverse it about a 1/4 mile home so i was woondering if mabe it is a band broke or a rear cluctch broke or a snap ring broke or what an ideas. and b the way what a christmas present huh!

Drop the pan again, and see what neat things you find in there.

Still have your check valve in the cooler lines up by the radiator?

What size tires, and what gears are you running?

Welcome to DF.

your tranny was cooked from the torque converter not locking up. Bad torque converters kill the trannies.

I had the same thing happen, except, I did not lose gears. only the loss of OD when the tranny temp went up. I got the converter and a solenoid replaced and it was fine for 2 years. Then the transfer case went out (leaked dry).

cowboy. How do you like the pure evil? I keep hearing bad things about installing them (and any tranny) to get the TV cable dialed in.

I guess tranny swaps are not as bolt and go as you think. i just want to hear that someone swapped it and it was relatively easy to dial in.

well my dyno sheet says 339 horses to the wheels and 381 to the trans...and its holding up great. more than i can say for the origional tranny. as far as dialing it in....it was a touch off when i got the truck, i just moved the tv cable a 1/4" at a time until my shifts were where i wanted them and the firmness of the shift was right

mopar R/T cast heads, M1 intake, and an F&B 52mm TB
altho i would have done things a bit diff if i were the one who built or bought it, but thats what the build sheet says. personally i would have gone with some edelbrock alum heads instead. i would have used the air gap from hughes inshead of the M1 but overall its pretty snotty and has plenty of torque. i can smoke the 40's right off it on dry pavement withought thinking twice
