Since the truck has 230k and lift, I am looking for more for functionality than performance. Is the hypertech unit a particularly bad unit for my application?

Cap (Recommendation?)----Brass tipped
Rotor (Recommendation?)-----Any
Check/replace the O2 Sensors-----NGK/NTK
Heavy Duty Brake Rotors, Pads and bearings (not sure what would be best for my application)----I'm going with slotted EBC rotors and yellow stuff pads, also have one-ton wheel cylinder upgrade

i bought a used hypertech that was restored to stock ok, so it loaded the program fine, no errors, but ....
it doesn't offer to correct my speedo.
hypertech support says - sorry, its tied into the abs brake controller... that's a consistent statement, but after that, they're not able to specifically document their product requirements. sometimes its the abs controller, other times its 2 wheel abs vs 4 wheel abs.

it also does not move the OD shift out from 45 to 50+ mph like superchips does.

my recommendation is to avoid the hypertech. no customer support and superchips is better.

Seafoam is pure petroleum, how is it going to hurt anything in the area where, erm.. Petroleum goes?

I'll answer that, it won't hurt anything.

So is kerosene, but, I wouldn't want to put that in my crankcase......

It contains a solvent. Plain and simple. How else would it "re-liquefy" the crap in your engine? Breaking all that stuff down, it then circulates thru your engine......

Given that the instructions dictate that you CLOSELY monitor your oil condition, and they don't want you to leave it in there beyond 100 miles with 'dirty' oil..... What other conclusion could you come to?

Even on a fresh oil change, with seafoam added, they want you to 'closely monitor' your oil condition.....

That said.... IF used as the directions indicate, it probably IS effective at what it does. My major malfunction with it is, I don't WANT that crap running around my bearings/lifters/rings/cylinder walls/etc.
