as far as i know, its all factory or replacement factory exhaust. this will not do. anyone have some good suggestions? i want good sound, performance, etc etc. dont care about mileage. just need some ideas as this is my first foray into starting to make this thing mine.

I just put a Gibson Super Truck w/ a Magnaflow direct fit cat on my '99 360 and am very happy. Great tone, good performance and an easy install.

I gutted my cat and put a super 44 flowmaster on my truck, Im trying to get a magnaflow cat from another member on here and going to buy single to duals 40 series flowmaster kit off ebay for 210.00. Imo get a flowmaster you cant go wrong such a great sound!

You are going to get all kinds of ideas on this but this is what I run. Gibson stainless shorty headers to 3" pipes steped down to 2.5 steped down to 21/4, no cats, dual glass packs, two h crossovers. Just a note it will set of car alarms, I love going to a city and doing just that.

i just bought a magnaflow round universal 2.5 inlet/outlet it was like $78 and some change sent to my house from summit than went to my local parts store and spent ten bucks on clamps and some extra pipe cause the magnaflow wasnt as long as the stock on was.. But any way nice deep tone in low rpms and is loud in the higher rpms. i also have the 5.2

You didn't state what your goals are, only that you want good sound and performance. In my life, good sound means not exceptionally loud and good performance means power coming in right off idle and extending into the mid-range, but without gimping the top end.

For my needs, I'm very pleased with the Magnaflow direct fit cat and Gibson Swept-Side Single. I'll be adding Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers soon -- I had a set on a similar engine and loved 'em. With this setup I won't make the peak horsepower numbers that others might, but the additional power comes in at the lower RPM's where I want it.

If you're wanting to rattle windows or chase greater peak horsepower numbers (at the cost of bottom end power) then a setup such as mine would disappoint you. The Magnaflow cat would still be a very good choice, but you'd want something different in front of and behind it.

i have had a few different setups. i first ran the stock cat with a dynomax muffler and turndown really dissapointed. not much noise and no power gain then i ran the stock manifolds and a magnaflow direct fit cat and a pacesetter kfx cat back. now i run a set of pacesetter shortys a jegs off road y pipe and the pacesetter kfx cat back. i like this the best not really any louder except for the little exhause leak i have on the passenger side header lol...i like my last setup best sounds really good and i have good mid range power the best of all 3 combos
