Considering that all it is, is a flat plate..... I really don't see how it could possibly fail, and be your responsibility...... whats to go wrong? Unless you give them one made of magnesium, and it ignites.......

Yes I agree it would be hard to make it fail, Oh wait dodge did, But there are people out there that will sue anybody for anything if they can.

As for a way around this issue maybe a release of responsibility form of some type, I like your idea of helping the members here but just be careful how you do it.

I mean I'd like to do it just for the price of aluminum and shipping but my time has to be worth something I just can't justify spending all that money on plate aluminum from Hughes

So for the one that I made it took 25min from start to finish, thats useing a plasma cutter, belt grinder, and a drill press. That would be $50 for my time, $10 for the plate, but you need to add the cost of hydro for the shop, replacement tool parts, gas to run around to get the plate and so on. Now you could be making more than one at a time and that will help with your labour costs.
