then along comes superchips, which reprograms the trans. it might be the latest dodge transmission flash, maybe?, i'm not sure. i can't find a tsb on it.
with OD on, it locks TCC at 40ish, then shifts to OD at 55ish. very nice.
with OD off, it doesn't lock TCC nor shift to OD, so it tows much better.
I put TFOD Jr shift kit in Rams Tranny...Upped the line pressure a tad... Along with the Superchips...I love it, just hope it lasts....

The transmission that drives me nuts, and is a true slush box is the 545RFE in my 4.7 Dakota 4x4...I'd do something to fix it, but it would FUBAR my warranty.

So a couple of things to add. I read that tapping on the brakes should cause TCC unlock, not actually braking but simply activating the lights. The PCM should then unlock the TCC. Correct?

And... Running with O/D off at 55 I'm at 2200rpms. That sounds like 3.93s with my 285/75 R16s. Is that also correct?

If the PCM sees the brake light switch activated, (and it does pay attention...) it will disengage TCC.

Have the gears in your truck ever been changed?

Quick note, didn't see it addressed yet: 4th gear is O/D. These transmissions only have 4 gears. What feels like an extra gear is the torque converter lockup/unlocking these guys are referring to, not an extra gear.

Okay so it's starting to make sense to me now. When I tap the brakes to turn on the brake lights, the TCC disengages and re-engages. Is that what's supposed to happen? I'm assuming so.

If the gears had been changed it would have been the PO.
