Default trans shifting weird under throttle out of first

my truck started doing this weird thing where if you romp it to the floor it won't shift out of first gear unless you let off....any ideas?
the truck is a 95 ram 1500 sport 5.9 360 i got it with 83xxx miles and so far i have 114xxx on the clock. nothing major done to the truck except new water pump and new muffler to replace the flowmaster that got deer antler shoved into it. at 80mph =)

Try adjusting the throttle valve cable. Can't hurt, it's free, might help.

Yup....one notch at a time....PIA

If that doesn't work you could solder in a 1/2 watt 100 ohm resistor into the wire coming from Pin 31 of the center connector from the PCM, This usually done with a performance valve body, some guys have done it stock VBs though.
Maybe start with a 50 ohm, if that doesn't work, add another 50, just make sure it's 1/2 watt, not 1/4.

What does that do?

Another consideration would be.... the pressure transducers (sensors) for the governor on the 46RE trans is notorious for not reading correctly at sustained high load values. (high pressure, such as, when you are sticking your toenails into the radiator.)

Problem there is, it's a 95.

Since you asked....With a 46RE, the PCM looses it with added governor pressure from a shift kit, and/or increased line pressure and it doesn't shift on the 1-2 at WOT.

The resister fools the PCM into thinking everything is normal. Most guys whom sell modded valve bodys install the reisitor in the Wiring harness in the valve body so they know they have the right wire. Like I said, you can go with a 100 watt, or a couple 50s in parallel, or go with a 100 watt and a 25...Whatever it takes.
