Its my understanding the the Y pipe is the major restriction. Replacing that, in concert with some good headers would help a LOT. (even without the manifold replacement.)

I have heard that many a time as well, but I wonder if it is all Dodge Y-pipes. I know they vary from year to year.

I have spent FAR too much time under my truck, staring up at those pipes...... I am thinkin' that larger diameter, and NOT going into my empty cat could only help. I suspect that they are different from some years.... as I hear rumors of some having the pipe cross under the oil pan from the drivers side? Mine doesn't... thank god.

The stock manifolds suck, the y pipe, from what I can see isn't much better.....

i was affraid you would say that. makes sense tho, that exhaust isnt the best ive ever seen. only problem is.....i just had that muffler put on last summer. and it would make sense to build a whole new system. rather than keep piecing one together

I think you can get an "off road" Y pipe from jegs, that is larger pipe, and bolts right in, but, no cat converter...... if emissions aren't an issue where you are, something to look at. Shorties would bolt right up to it too. and you would reuse everything after where the cat used to be.

i had a shop make a custum y-pipe when i installed my longtubes .

the airgap is a great mod i just ran into alot of problems i never delt with before that peed me off ! nor did i have the right tools at the right time which caused me aggravation.

i still have a broken bolt way in the back that been broken since i bought the truck. so someone been at the plenum before.

still need to find a airhat with a K&N filter that will fit snug between the firewall and throttle body.

other than that if i didnt run into the problems i did. i would buy again. the get up and go is amazing now. and takes less pedal . and i dont seem to run into as many dead spots in the pedal. after it hits 2500 just light footed it goes till you lay into RPMS climb .def makes fun for highway fun with those chev and fords

didnt notice any low end, in fact i think i gained some. if i nail it from a stop it does the one wheel wonder with no problem lol. also with all tunes from SCT even the 93 now i have no ping at all which makes me really happy because the airgap responds really well with the SCT.

That Jegs one is the pacesetter. I've contemplated hacking that one up and adding a cat after the y, but I think its actually too big for the gibson shorties I have. I need to measure the largest pipe the Gibsons can accommodate (very slightly larger than the collector opening on the stock Y pipe) and run that size mandrel bent to a y pipe like this followed by my 3" si/so cat:

These are the SpinTech front pipes I have on my RT. You can get them either with or without cats and mine have the high flow cats. My true dual system is 2.5" with x-pipe, Flowmaster 40s and tail pipes out the back with chrome turndowns at the roll pan. Truck has that sweet, old school Mopar rumble sound.
