When you replace the gears and chain, take them off, put new set on and DON'T move anything with the gears/chain off.

Dots should line up.

Edit: Where are you getting the timing set from? I got mine from rockauto.com for around $43 I think, it's been awhile.

+1....when you take the cover off, you can rotate crank around and line up the marks. But onec you remove chain and sprockets (not gears) DO NOT let anything move. Reinstall.....

I might be ordering everything online. Autozone wants $60 for waterpump, and $30 for the double roller chain itself

Any good places to order online I'm all ears

Again, This forums help is AWESOME!!

Ok Dumb question on my part. I dont want to move ANYTHING once the cover is off.
That crank pully right now is at the 5 degree mark and I want to leave it there

That huge nut holding on the crank comes off counterclockwise?

www.mopartsracing.com is where I got timing set. AZ dod not show double roller when I did mine last fall. And $30 is about right for the Morse style chain. You want double roller....

www.rockauto.com is another good source, and there is a discount code thread here on DF.

And the crank bolt does turn CCW to remove. Do not pull on the outer edge of crank pulley. Use a three hole puller to remove.

Parts arrived today

Question, The manual says "NOTE: Special Tool 6635 must be used to align the
front cover and seal with the crankshaft."

Did you use this tool on the timing sprocket and chain upgrade?

I'm getting nervous about this part!

I've no idea what tool it's talking about... But then again maybe that's why 6 months later I've got a slow oil leak coming from the timing cover or front main seal.......

That makes sense, I don't see why you'd need a tool to align the cover/seal with the crankshaft....

Most other motors I have worked on had dowel pins to align the cover. The dodge.... doesn't. My guess is, that's where the tool comes in.

What is gasket sealant do you recommend?
I was planning on RTV blue glue for water pump, and the black RTV for the timing chain cover gasket
