Default Time for brakes

Time to toss new brakes on(new pads front and new drums, shoes, springs out back.) Would like to get some ideas on some good brakes. I usually just toss napa's on but might look at others if you guys show me something new. I do a lot of off road driving, winter driving, towing, high speed hard fast stops(fire calls). I tend to go through brakes fairly fast(drive it like its a cop car lol). So any ideas? I was looking at EBC yellow stuff pads for trucks and SUV's. Also was looking at the green stuff. Haven't found anything on rear shoes. I have the 1 ton rear wheel cylinder upgrade btw. I also heard i can upgrade to 2500 calipers? Worth it or not?

Not much in the way of 'performance' shoes for the rear...... options there are a bit limited.

For the fronts...... its a compromise between braking power, and parts longevity. (and sometimes, WHICH parts wear faster...) I put carbon ceramic pads on my firebird, because the stock brakes SUCKED. (and I couldn't afford to go to a bigger brake package, way too expensive.) Of course, those pads pretty much ate my rotors, so, when the time came for new pads, new rotors were also in order. Braking performance was MUCH improved though.

Something else to consider, is the braided brake lines replacing the soft rubber lines. Gives MUCH better pedal feel, and also improves brake performance. (they don't expand as easily under pressure)

As for brake pad 'ratings'..... have a look at this little tidbit. You can rate your pads according to the letter codes.

Lots of places sell them. Earl's, Summit, Jegs, etc. Basically, where ever you can get brake parts.

I've got Russel's from Summit. They work good, but I seriously cant tell a difference unless I'm in a panic stop.

do a search.. first dude... you should know this!

anyways.. I've got EBC Sport rotors ansd Green Stuff Pads in the fron and duracrap springs pads and drums in the rear... make sure when you do the rear drums and pads that you mount the pads properly.. two different sized pads...

I love the the sport rotors.. they're slotted and dimmpled.. DO NOT get fully cross drilled because they will run the risk of cracking under hard braking... I got my rotors from autoanything and I think I paid $239 for them shipped

I just saw that purp. I am not gunna go with that **** again. I had those in my old truck twice and got like 5-10k miles out of them. I am thinking ceramic pads will do good. I tow, have hard stops, lift and larger tires, off road and drive gravel roads daily. So ceramics from napa seem to fit the bill. Should i replace my calipers? They are 15yrs old lol.
