I found a 1999 3/4 transfer case that came out of a diesel, with a cracked a case, would those parts flop in to my transfer case

Stop wasting your time, just replace the 231 and don't beat the crap out of your truck and you"ll be fine.

what size socket do i need to be able to remove the bolt that is on the back of the transfer case that hooks up to the 4x4 mini drive shaft, trying to take out the chain in the transfer case

I'm lucky enough to have the 231HD on my truck, but as you can see, even that doesn't compare to a 241 overall.
