y-pipe install, space out O2 sensor?
I have a '97 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L, this weekend I'm installing a new set of headers and the Jegs y-pipe. I have had my cat gutted for about a month now and it hasn't thrown a code yet. Do you think I will need to add the sparkplug non-foulers to my O2 sensor or since it hasn't been throwing a code that I might not need it on the y-pipe?
Of course I could always try it first and if it does throw a code then add the non-foulers. Just trying to save time.

I'd let it ride if you've gone a month with no problems. My truck complained about the highflow cat so I needed to do the non foulers. They only take a few minutes to make and install, so its not a big deal either way if you hold off.
Maybe I'm not making myself clear, I'm not concerned about the gutted cat, I'm concerned about the Jegs y-pipe, I feel the O2 sensor will be more exposed than in the gutted cat, and that it might start throwing a code after installation.
lol..... Sorry for silly question.
I'm going to not use the spacer and then I'll know the answer if someone asks the same question later.

you would be surprised how much low end you would get if you add the magnaflow cat. i ran no cat for a while it felt i gained more power at the time because it was louder and i was a lead foot with it. but when i had to pass emmisions and had to put a cat back on. im happy i did, also sounds better too with the cat on still really loud .
universal cats for our trucks are like 60-80 bucks. just something to consider

I lost no low end at all when I gutted my cat, it has a really strong low end. From a dead stop it takes off quick!
