My transmission jerks when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, and no one on 3 forums including this one has yet to have any idea to what the cause could be. So when i start making some money this spring/summer I need bring it in to get it checked out. I hope its nothing major and I hope it has plenty of life in it too because it'll take me awhile to save up $1500-2000 for a rebuild if its comes to that and this is my work truck. So far its been doing it for 3k miles since i bought it 3 months ago and it hasnt really changed or gotten worse
It was a reman, sorry if what I wrote was confusing about that.

I wish it would have been looked into as of yesterday but it's taken me a year of having it back for myself to finally get anyone besides a jerk back yard mechanic's office who decided that I was apparently the perverbial blonde and charged me $90 to replace just the cap and rotor. I had already replaced the plugs and wires. All the guy had to do was the cap and rotor. After that it was a matter of trying to convince someone that something was wrong. Did finally get Les Schwab to find out that the wheel bearings were bad and uncle helped bro replace those.

It had been sitting for days when I went to check the fluid and it started right up. No problems. Did again yesterday when I had to move it out of the barn. I checked the wires and didn't see anything loose nor any corrosion. I don't know what is going on with it.

I'll use it as sparingly as I can until they can get to it. The guys are talking about a week and a half is the soonest then it'll be down for a week to a week and half while they tear it apart. I'll have them check the check valve and reroute it while they have it all out. I think I will add in the extra to have them put the filter on too. It's not much extra for the piece of mind.

Your starting problem is indeed a puzzling one lol.

BE WARY: The information in the next few paragraphs is largely pulled from my ***, and is based entirely on a theory drawn in the darkest, most remote recesses of my brain. Thus, it may have no basis in reality.

Now that that disclaimer is cleared up, here's my theory on your hard starting: If we can rule out faulty/loose wiring (as you seem to have done) and a bad starter/alternator (when they fail they tend to FAIL).

It's possible (though not probable) that both of your main issues (tranny and starting) are related:

To fall back on one of my previous assumptions that your check valve is clogged (which im fairly sure of), the starter would have to overcome the added resistance of the clog because the flywheel and tc are married, and when you try to start it, the tc begins turning, and tries to send fluid to the cooler. The starter may not have the necessary torque to power through and turn it over.

This theory would hold no bearing if the tranny fluid flow in park does not incorporate the cooler (which im not sure of). I would wait on unregistereduser or heyyou to come and confirm or deny this theory as they have much more experience than I

What you have to say makes perfect sense to me, but if there is one thing I have learned working on my truck or tractors is that anything that makes logical sense is probably incorrect.
