Default EGR Pipe Removal

ok back when i did my plenum last year, i couldnt get the EGR pipe off from the headers. So i cut the pipe at the header, cut the pipe at the manifold and had bolts welded in the tube to prevent exhaust leak.

Well i have a new EGR pipe i got from the dealer. I can unscrew the back piece from the manifold no problem.

My problem is i cant get it off the headers. The bolt heads are rusted, i tried a strip socket, and it chewed it right to crap. I can get a slight bite, but am scared to chew the rest of it up.

Now once cracked do these bolts come out fairly easy? I have some MAP gas im going to put to it.

Im just trying to get this thing removed without having to take off the headers. If you have removed this pipe from the headers, please explain the best way to do it.

I want to replace it because im trying to get my MPGS back to normal. Ive gotten the truck to about 9 mpgs from teh 4.6 mpgs by just cleaning my air filter.

I get a CEL for code 12- battery disconnecter for the past 50 cycles, and Code 32 EGR gasses not circulating properly. But CEL goes off after i shut truck off and turn back on. I get a CEL only once every 2-3K abouts.

Heat is probably going to be your best bet. Heat the area the bolt threads into, not the bolt itself.

i dont have the block plate, my egr valve is still there.

I think having no muffler may make it suffer as well since my exhaust ends after the cat.

I was going to put headers without the egr port and for the intake I was going to get a plug for where the tube goes in and leave the valve so I could leave the wires hooked up so I will not get a light.

What about spraying some PB Blaster on it, starting the truck up in order to heat up the threads and clamping some vise grips on the stripped thread? I don't know if you have the room to do so since I have a Non EGR truck.
