Default slow cranking then cuts off

ive not had any problems lately. i went outside to turn 'er on after just driving with no problems 30 min ago and it turned over real slow, fired then cut off.

started it again, fired and cut off. started it while giving it gas and gave it some throttle for a few seconds and it was fine, steady idle. drove it and turned it off for 10 minutes, restarted it and it turned over a bit slow. advance test results showed good cranking amps. it now starts and runs fine... whats the deal?

Possible starter going. Possible weak cell in the battery. (though I would think the test would have caught either of those....) Maybe just bad connections?

I had a similar problem this past wednesday. Turned out to be a bad cell in the battery. Strangely, the bench test under-load showed that while the reserve capacity was a bit low, the battery should have been ok for a while longer. Nonetheless, new battery made the problem go away entirely.

ok, it started acting up again, while i was on my way to the machine shop.

started fine this morning. 20 min into the drive going 55. if you let of the gas the rpms drop to about 350 real quick then bounce back to normal. with my foot on the pedal it was fine.

turned it off, when into the shop, picked up my block and was back in the truck in about 10 mins. when i turned the key on, there was no "key on" buzzer. it turned over very slow and fired up, then cut off. i tried to start it, but it wouldnt even turn over. i unplugged the battery for 5 minutes, it then cranked slowly and fired up. i kept my foot on the gas for a while because it still wanted to cut off otherwise. after a few mins of giving it light throttle it no longer wanted to cut off and was fine the entire way home.

until now, it hasnt acted up since my original post in this thread

Check for dirty connections at the battery, PDC, and starter. Also check major ground wires.

--------pdc?

maybe ill buy new ignition wires and terminals tomorow?

FWIW, when it does this, battery voltage shows above 12 on the dash. advance tested the battery to be good as well.

Power Distribution Center. Black box right behind the battery. Positive cable goes from batter, to PDC, then from PDC, down to starter. Lotsa possibilities for a poor connection.

aha! i began thinking that right after i typed.

should i replace both positive leads, to and from the PDC?

**my only question is, why would the battery cause the truck to cut off?
