Default 4x4 takes long time to engage???

If i shift into 4x4, takes several minutes to actually engage, after ive driven it in 4x4 and want to disengage it, it stays locked in for a few minutes... any ideas?

After you shift, try putting it in reverse for a min, then shift back to drive. That usually clears it up for me. Could be a vacuum issue, as the CAD is controlled by vacuum signals from the t-case. Either the vacuum motor on the CAD is going out, or you have a drop in vacuum pressure somewhere

I would point at a vacuum leak then, the #1 location for this to happen is the steel lines from the t case to the cad. If those are good try checking with carb cleaner

My truck wouldn't engage at all when I got it.
I took the CAD actuator assembly off, sprayed quite a bit of PB Blaster in the actuator itself (in each of the connections that the vacuum lines attach to), slid the fork back and forth a few times until it loosened up, and put it all back together.
Since then it will engage or disengage within a a second or two.

Mine has always engaged quickly (almost immediatly upon shifting), but disengages very slowly (up to a minute or two).

Could just be the cold azz weather, how was it in the summer? Regardless, you need to check vacuum with a gauge. And said gauge (if a descent one) can also be used as a pump to check the CAD motor. If all that checks out, the problem could be anything from too thick or dirty fluid to worn shoes on the fork or bad bushings.
