engine swap

Default engine swap

2000 5.2 ltr extcab 4wheel drive/ motor is shot / I have found a 99 Dodge Sport 1500 4x4, 360 V-8 eng, auto trans with 88,000 miles he says it has had a upper engine fire he is asking 450.00 with a 30 day warranty,I will be using everything from the intake up from my truck,other than swapping the intake and flex plate do you guys see any prob, with this? money is tight right now due to being layed of from work and dont really need to get into a money pit thanks a lot for your help

zman just got off the phone with the guy he says didnt really hurt the motor and is letting it go with alt,water pump, all accs, he sold the torqu conv. with the tranny but i shouldnt need that i think i saw a post about i could use the one i already have is this right?

Gonna run a bit lean in open loop....... might require a tune. Something to figger out once you have the engine in, and running.

+1, forgot about the PCM. But that's minor. Dealer or an SCT tuner will take care of that. As far as the TC goes, since it's apart I'd replace it and the front seal regardless. (providing funds).

I think the OP saw something on engine balance and is worried. The 96+ trucks have the 360 external balance weight on the flexplate and use the same neutral balance torque converter as the 318.

You could still replace it though as they are only about $80 and tend to go bad.

back from picking up the motor and it looks great was a small fire but looking at the pickup it was right front firewall, the intake and injecters look good plugends are not burnt and actually look great/could I use this intake? injectors? just put my throttle body on ti and run it?

Hey You, will this work? i have used the search and most use thier intake so i took it for granted i would have to also,I do know most of the youpullit places i checked, the motor didnt come with a intake. maybe this is why they were using thiers?

Intakes are exactly the same. Injectors on the larger motor might have a higher flow rate than the 318, so, if they look good, use 'em. Use the rest of the sensors off of your old motor.

Keep in mind, if the plenum on the 'new' motor hasn't been repaired yet.... it's gonna need it. Lot easier to do it on an engine stand, than in the truck. If you have already fixed yours, do the manifold swap, but, use the injectors off of the larger motor.
