I've never heard that either. Interesting. The OBD1 guys really should look at 1.7's then since there are no good programmers for them.

I'm digging for reference, but all I'm finding are LA's had 1.5's with option for 1.6's.. It may be all magnums had 1.6's.. If so- I have misspoken, and all magnums are stock w/ 1.6's..

That's what I thought was the case since one of the main differences between a Magnum and the older LA's was the heads.

the magnums have the 1.6 and the LA has 1.5. from what i have read the old 318's will not let you run the 1.7's because of the rod hitting the head issues. the valve on the piston i have never heard of.

What about the 91-93 Magnum 318 and 92-93 Magnum 360?

I found where I came across that information, it is embedded the Comp Cam CamQuest application.. I swear I've heard it before though.. and I should have said pre-96 in my original post instead of 94-95.. I was wrong though, so it doesn't matter- unless you're finding it fun to drag out my humiliation lol..

LA engines used the 1.5's.. it was bad juju to use a higher ratio unless you did some head work- and if you were going to do head work you may have well of just used a different grind cam and saved some money for elsewhere, no?

Seriously though, all magnums have 1.6:1 rockers.. my bad..

Is there really a clearance issue with the airgap and 14x3? I'm getting my sheet ready when I get my tax returns.

I was just pointing out the odd choice of years, thats all. A lot of people forget about the first gen magnums.

any one with a 2001 5.9 have these and could tell me the power difference? Trying to decide if I really want to get them or not.
