remove lift or change gears for improved milage

If he has the 318, it's a half ton. Which means he has a 9 1/4" rear. No 5.13's available. I'd keep the lift, go with 35's and 4.56's if it's a daily driver. I had 35's w/ 4.10 gears and it was alright, but 4.56's or 4.88's would be more fun.

in my opinion, those 4.11 gears are killing you more than that lift. the tires are definitely not helping, but moneywise: your going to pay to remove a lift that you already spent the money on, thus throwing you in the negative. If you sell the lift, your at 0. your mpgs might go up a little, but not as much as a lower gear ratio. Going with smaller tires would help, but theres more money to be spent just to save on the gas?
I would weigh each option vs money spent and money saved. the gear ratio is huge in the long run, as well as tire size.
if you go lower gear ratio, your definitely gonna need to run smaller tires...
is the money you spend really going to be worth the extra $20 saved in gas each week?

it's not just the money, or the gas milage. It is now my daily driver.
It barely fits in my garage, it is a pain to park, I go off road maybe twice a year and never get into anything serious anyway. It is harder on the tranny running huge tires.
I purchased the truck with the lift, so no money lost if I do it myself.
This is my plan. Remove the body lift and go with different rims and tires. Change from 35 inch tires to 33 inch. The 4.11 should be perfect with 33 inch tires.
Still have off road ability, and should save some money in gas.
On a side note. Where is the thread showing rims/tires/size/looks???
