the starters on both are on the drivers on both the V8 jeep's and the truck's

the reason the starter idea was bough up was, problem that jr has a i6 in his jeep and they have the starters on the pass side

the starter that was in the truck was on the driver side and the one on the jeep was on the passenger side when they were taken out

Yes 95 was the last year of weighted torque converters. In 96 the weight moved to the flexplate.

Then the jeep didn't have a 5.2L as the oil filter would interfere with a passenger side starter. Unless I am really confused they would occupy the same area as a magnum block is a magnum block no difference on application.

No, this is INCORRECT.

The starter is on the passenger side on ALL 93-98 Grand Cherokees, regardless of the engine. This includes the 46RH used on 93-95 V8 ZJ's, the 44RE used on 96-98 5.2's, and the 46RE used behind the 5.9 in the 98 5.9L Limited.

The Jeep transmission won't work without changing to a Jeep oil pan (the Jeep starter will interfere with the Dodge on the passenger side), and moving the wiring around.

ok guys new update! i got the transmission from the junk yard and swaped it in and the starter did need to be from the jeep and the oil pan did not need to be swapped. spliced in longer starter cables and it started right up and shifts perfectly!
