Default TB/TB Cable question

Ok, while searching for the "missing oil" (1.5qt in 6 months, 629mi, she doesn't get driven much), I was trying to figure out how to get the vacuum line off the TB. How DO you get it off?

I also discovered another reason why my truck is so sluggish:

Thats WOT.
TB cable is majorly stretched...so the question is, how do I take up the slack safely?

Also, plenum shot:

Thanks guys!

Plenum is blown. Time to fix that.

Replace the throttle cable. I am unsure if it has any built in adjustment.... don't think so though. If it has stretched that far, breakage is not far away.

Funny thing with the plenum is that the truck doesn't smoke, it doesn't even really ping that much.
You have to REALLY get on it to get it to ping. I am thinking PCV is stuck. Because I HAVE had some major blue smoke on startup sometimes.

And I was afraid the only way to fix the TB cable was to replace it.
It doesn't look THAT hard to do....guess I'll do it when I have more time....like the summer......
Thanks.

My truck would burn thru three quarts of oil a week..... (drives about 100-150 miles in a week) and it really didn't smoke all that much either....... Replace your PCV valve with one from the dealer, and see if your oil consumption changes any.

Smoke at startup is generally valve seals.

Damn, you're fast!
lol

I was going to take the truck to the dealer for a tune-up ( no time to do it myself) and was going to buy a couple PCV's while I was there, but I haven't had a chance to since the weather has been bad.

I has only smoked on startup when the oil level was low. I have also had some (what I think is) lifter tick, which was remedied by more oil being added.

Dealer tuneups are hideously expensive...... But, ya do what ya gotta do.

How many miles on the truck?

Considering it was a one-owner truck, and was used to tow a freaking travel trailer, I would hazard a guess that the tranny and plenum have been fixed AT LEAST once. lol

Mine was a farm truck, with 160K+ miles on it when I got it, and the plenum didn't appear to have ever been fixed...... (is now though....) Not sure about the trans, still works just fine..... considering the miles on it. Would love to think it has been rebuilt once already, but, not gonna hold my breath on that.
