Default True Dual

Ok so i finally decided on a mod. I'm going to true dual my truck instead of a y-pipe off the cat... my question is do i have to buy two identical cats or can i use the stock and a off brand? i know it will give me a check engine but one of my 02's is shot anyway so i'm not worried about it.

I'd go with two new cats. Otherwise you'll have different flow rates on each side.

Friend of mine put true duals on his truck. Just a short H pipe between the two banks. (both ran down the passenger side of the truck. H was maybe 2 inches long, with the pre-cat O2 sensor installed there.) his sounded pretty good, and ran fine.

You must run an x or h pipe on any true dual setup regardless of the vehicle type. You must balance the exhaust pulses to get it to run right. IIRC, the h pipe favors torque and the x pipe favors high end hp.

http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscella...austtheory.htm

pretty good article on exhaust theory..

I run a magna flow true x muffler.. gotta maximize the scavenging 'yall- back pressure is a whole other animal, and it's not good in any circumstance..

to the original poster: I run true duals.. I dig it.. everything I did to the exhaust prior to running true duals was a waste- now that said, I bet it would be near as good (for our purposes) by simply getting rid of the factory Y pipe.. that thing is a joke of some sort..
