I am gonna guess that something has come loose in you rear drum on one side or the other. Does one side lock up or both?

That or a leaking wheel cylinder.
On of my wheel cylinders went out one time and the first stop of the day (in gravel) made me skid for a couple feet.
A friend of mine used to have an old ford and his would skid to a stop on pavement when both of his wheel cylinders blew.

I had the same problem a while back, Replaced a bunch of stuff trying to find out what it was. long story short it ended up being a bad caliper. *shrugs*

**** I wish I could stop like that while standing on the break, I have had ****ty pressure ever since I bought my truck and no amount of bleeding has fixed it.

A leaking axle seal will cause this too. Mine did it last year, I fixed it and now it's starting to do it again. I can smell my gear oil burn a little back there too. Give a sniff or two at your rear wheels. Especially after braking a few times. You'll notice it if it's there. Believe me.

If it smells like a dog turd then it's gear oil.
But believe it or not, gear oil has nothing on GM supercharger oil. That's some nasty stuff.

which tires lock up?
Front? Back? Left? or Right or all of them.
If individual wheels lock up then check brake components on this wheel.
If all of them lock up it could be a proportioning valve next to your master cylinder.

I'm having the same problem with my right rear. It is worse in cold and wet conditions. I noticed an oil spray on the inside of the wheel. Took the drum off and everything was saturated. I have yet to determine the source of the leak. I think it is from the axle as it does not look or smell like brake fluid. After ruling out the brake cylinder, I will be looking for the leaky axle seal.
